Theists, why does God allow suffering..

..specifically, the suffering of animals.

you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

Apog: Guess you might be right there. But seeing as this creature replaces the fish's tongue and supposedly causes no other damage, it didn't sound like the best example of suffering when I read it. Anyway, I'd still love for someone to ask a Jehovahs Witness this question the next time they knock on your door..

I dare anyone reading this, to ask this question (why do animals have to suffer so much just because Adam sinned, or why does God kill countless innocent creatures or order them to be killed in the Bible) to a JW next time they see one..

For me personally, as someone who detests animal cruelty, just thinking about the literal global flood scenario helped me to see our 'loving heavenly Father' in a whole new light..

Why was nature made so very fragile in this way? Is not that fragility itself a defect (or evil) in creation?"

look...i am not an atheist.

even so, i have never had one prayer answered my entire life.

the only thing that would even come close was learning ttatt.

I do not mean to pray for a team of renowned surgeons to somehow graft the legs of a cadaver onto the soldier, nor for a team of renowned scientists to craft mechanical legs for him. Pray that God spontaneously and miraculously restores the soldier's legs overnight, in the same way that God spontaneously and miraculously cured Jeanna Giese and Marilyn Hickey's mother.
If possible, get millions of people all over the planet to join the prayer circle and pray their most fervent prayers. Get millions of people praying in unison for a single miracle for this one deserving amputee. Then stand back and watch.
What is going to happen? Jesus clearly says that if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. He does not say it once -- he says it many times in many ways in the Bible.
And yet, even with millions of people praying, nothing will happen."
